Dear Friends in MS, Spouse and/or Caregivers:

WHAT - YOU ARE INVITED to  DESERT ADVENTURE 2004

WHERE -  To be announced

WHENTo be announced

NOTE:   Last Desert Adventure, several people had long delays, many flights were canceled and some planning on attending just couldn't tolerate waiting in the long lines at check in. I have a feeling, because we are still dealing with the ripple of 9/11,  that we would have the same problems again in 2003.  Therefore, the IMSSF is going to delay Desert Adventure until 2004.

The volunteers/staff and I are going to meet in Las Vegas January 12-16 2003 and we have extended an invitation to anyone else wishing to come.  We will stay at Treasure Island.  Make your reservations online at www.treasureisland.com for the $55 a night rate.   Those hotel rates are half of what rates are in Tucson right now, therefore much more affordable.  We look forward to seeing you there.  Make sure you send me an email )  to let me know you will be there so we can all meet for an evening meal.

The International MS Support Foundation will be hosting our Seventh Desert Adventure for people with MS, their spouse, caregiver, or significant person. Those awaiting diagnosis are encouraged to attend.

Please plan to join us in celebration of friendship, caring and support and to share our experiences and concerns with Multiple Sclerosis. We welcome newcomers and look forward to meeting with our old friends again.

YOU MUST LET US KNOW YOU ARE ATTENDING for seating purposes

  •   TUCSON VAN TRAN   (able to handle scooter and wheel chairs)

Van Tran reservations or requests for rides are simply that. They are a request for a ride. Van Tran is NOT a guaranteed service. While every attempt will be made to provide you with the service that you require, when you require it, Van Tran is unable to meet the requirements of all requests all of the time.

To make a reservation/request you may call  1-520-798-1000 and follow the prompts in either English or Spanish, any time between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. 365 days a year. For the hearing impaired please call TDD 1-520-884-5100. You may request a ride up to 7 days in advance.

    • Carole did some research and here is information if you are coming by
      scooter.

Call the ADA office (520-791-5409) and ask them to fax you the paperwork to
get a ride to/from the airport.

SavOn Drugs charges $1.00 per page for receiving faxes (in case you don't
      have one).

Complete the paperwork that ADA sends and fax it back to them. (this could
be done by US mail if it was done ahead of time.)

They will issue vouchers for VanTran (your ride) and you can use them
anytime while you are here. The price per ride is from $.50 - $2.00 each
way, depending on your income. They sell a book of 10 vouchers for less $$
if you plan to use them to go shopping, etc.

When the reservationist answers your call, please give the operator the following information::.

    • Your Full Name

    • The day/date you want to travel
    • Where you want to be picked up from and where you would like to be dropped off.
    • The time you would like to be picked up or IF your trip is for an appointment then the time that you need to be there. Please consider if you have to be at a specific place at a specific time to ask to be there earlier so that you have time to get from the van to your appointment on time.
